A new ADA compliant, shared-use path was recently installed to fulfill a vital missing gap within our primary, north-south, roadside-path “Spine Route” from Route 117 in South Lincoln/Lincoln Station to ultimately connect to Walden Pond State Reservation. This section follows the Bay Circuit Trail and will extend the paved roadside path that leads from the Lincoln Station/MBTA Commuter Rail stop for commuters, bicyclists, walkers, and people with disabilities towards MA DCR’s Walden Pond State Reservation/Walden Visitors Center - a highly-visited, regional destination. This section will connect from Baker Bridge Road to Baker Farm (Road). The plan is to continue to improve the existing trail link so that there will be a much-improved link that extends all the way to Walden Pond.

This missing link was identified as a high priority in the MAPC walking local access score as it extends the roadside path to people of all ages and abilities (seniors, children & families). This project is identified as a high priority in the 2017 Open Space and Recreation Plan, and is also identified as a high-priority goal in the Town’s Master Plan, Complete Streets Program, and Healthy Community Report.
